  • Five CSU Teams Receive National APR Recognition

    CLEVELAND, Ohio - For the second straight year, Cleveland State had five of its intercollegiate programs receive Academic Progress Rate (APR) public recognition from the NCAA when the NCAA made the announcement on Wednesday.

    CLEVELAND, Ohio - Former Cleveland State cross country runner Kelly Zaleski has been named the Spring 2013 College of Nursing Valedictorian as well as the Spring 2013 Class Valedictorian. Zaleski was selected as her college valedictorian by a group of Nursing faculty members, and was then selected by the Assistant Deans as the class valedictorian for the second ceremony at the 2013 Spring Commencement - which consists of the Colleges of Business, Education & Human Services, Urban Affairs, and Nursing.

    BEREA, Ohio- The Cleveland State cross country team competed in the Sparky Adams Invitational at Baldwin Wallace University Saturday, participating in the 400 meter dash, 800 meter run and 5,000 meter run.

    NEW ORLEANS, La.– For the fifth straight season the Cleveland State cross country team has been honored for their academic achievements, earning USTFCCCA All-Academic Team accolades. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association made the announcement earlier this week.

  • Brittany Elmlinger Named 2012 Class Valedictorian

    CLEVELAND, Ohio - Former Cleveland State cross country runner, Brittany Elmlinger has been named the Fall 2012 College of Sciences and Health Professions Valedictorian as well as the Fall 2012 Class Valedictorian. Elmlinger was selected as her college valedictorian by a group of Sciences and Health Professions faculty members, and was then selected by the Assistant Deans as the class valedictorian. Elmlinger will now deliver the valedictory address at the CSU commencement on Sunday, December 16.
  • Vikings Wrap Up 2012 At NCAA Regional Meet

    MADISON, Wis. - The Cleveland State cross country team concluded the 2012 season Friday afternoon, competing at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional. Friday's race marked the first 6K of the season for Cleveland State. Michigan brought home the team title at the regional race, while Michigan State placed second.

    CLEVELAND, Ohio - After a two-week break from competition, the Cleveland State cross country team will return to the course this weekend, participating in the 2012 Horizon League Championship. This year's championship will be hosted by Milwaukee and will take place on Saturday, October 27. The women's 5K race is slated for a 12:00 p.m. EST start at the Wayne E. Dannehl National XC Course.

    WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Cleveland State cross country team competed in the WC Fall Classic Friday afternoon, with five Vikings recording personal-best times. As a team, CSU placed 13th out of 33 teams competing, the largest field that the Vikings have competed in this season. Cleveland State, along with many other teams, sported pink socks in today's race, supporting breast cancer awareness.

The women's collegiate 5K race is slated for an 8:30 a.m. start on Saturday (Oct. 6) and will take place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

    CEDARVILLE, Ohio- The Cleveland State cross country team continued the 2012 season Saturday afternoon, competing in the All-Ohio Championship. Overall, there were 43 schools competing in the race, with the Vikings placing seventh out of the Division I schools competing.

    DETROIT, Mich. - Sophomore cross country runner Tori Holt ran a sub-20 minute 5K for the first time in her collegiate career, leading Cleveland State at the Detroit Titan Invitational Saturday morning. Holt and the Vikings placed fifth as a team, while Bucknell took home first place honors.

Head coach Joe Jaketic, who is entering his seventh season with the team, welcomed back five returners and four newcomers.
