CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Cleveland State cross country team ran one of their best races in the past few years Saturday, placing seventh as a team at the Friendship Invitational. The Vikings were led by Tori Holt and Ashley Lydic, who both posted sub 20-minute 5k times.

"I am so proud of how the team ran today, everyone had great times including some lifetime bests," head coach Joe Jaketic said. "It was a beautiful day to run and we had great support from our fans out on the course."

Holt ran a lifetime-best 19:18 Saturday, placing 10th overall. Her 10th place finish earned her a spot on the award stand, and marked the 14th fastest 5k time at CSU since 2005 when Jaketic became head coach. Lydic finished 24th in a time of 19:54, marking the first sub 20-minute 5k time of her career. Katie Webb was close behind the first two CSU finishers, placing 31st in a personal-best time of 20:05.

"Tori had one of the best races that I have seen during my time at CSU and I am so proud of how hard she has worked to get here. The entire team has been working hard in practice the first couple weeks and it paid off for them today," Jaketic said.

Maddie Korak and Angela Kirila were the next two Vikings to finish, Korak in a personal-best time of 21:00 (57th) and Kirila in a season-best time of 21:31 (69th). Megan O'Keefe recorded a career-best time of 21:44 as the sixth Viking to finish, placing 72nd overall, while Ashley Berlin finished right behind her with a personal-best time of 22:09 (77th).
