CLEVELAND, Ohio - After a two-week break from competition, the Cleveland State cross country team will return to the course this weekend, participating in the 2012 Horizon League Championship. This year's championship will be hosted by Milwaukee and will take place on Saturday, October 27. The women's 5K race is slated for a 12:00 p.m. EST start at the Wayne E. Dannehl National XC Course.
Last season the Vikings placed fourth at the league meet, their highest finish in program history. Katie Webb and Tori Holt are the only returners that earned points for CSU at the 2011 League Championship, and have been the first two Vikings to finish in three races this season. Overall, Webb and Holt have combined for 13 of CSU's top-three finishes this season, including Holt pacing the Vikings during six races.
So far this season, nine Vikings have recorded personal-best times, including the trio of Holt (19:18), Webb (19:53) and Ashley Lydic (19:54) who each notched sub 20-minute 5Ks for the first time in their careers. Personal-best times heading into the Horizon League Championship are listed below:

Cleveland State's best finish of the season came at the Otterbein Invitational (Sept. 22), as the Vikings finished fourth as a team and had four top-50 individual finishes. CSU also had strong showings at the Friendship Invitational (Sept. 15) and the WC Fall Classic (Oct. 12), as seven Vikings set then personal-best times at the Friendship Invite and five Vikings did the same at the WC Fall Classic.
