ROCHESTER, Mich. - Cleveland State (26-12) extended its season-best winning streak to seven games with a pair of victories on Wednesday afternoon at Oakland (17-30). The Vikings won the opener, 8-0, before scoring three runs in the seventh to take the night cap, 7-3.

Amanda Macenko dominated in the first game, hurling her second straight four-hit shutout to improve to 19-8 on the year. She fanned seven while extending her scoreless streak to 14.2 innings.

The Vikings struck for two runs in their first at-bat, courtesy of an RBI single by Amanda Houchin and a Michele Penney sacrifice fly.

The score would remain the same until CSU exploded for six runs in the sixth to close out the game. The Vikings loaded the bases with three straight singles to lead off the frame, pushing across a run on a Danielle Young fielder's choice. After the first out of the inning, Tara Meyer extended the advantage to 4-0 with an RBI single. Two batters later, Christa Coppus singled in a pair and CSU went on to close out the scoring on a passed ball and a RBI single from Jessica Burt.

Niki Schulty gave up nine hits and eight runs (six earned) to fall to 2-8.

In game two, the Vikings jumped on top in the second, scoring a run on an error and a RBI triple from Burt.

Oakland cut the lead in half with a two-out run that snapped CSU's scoreless streak at 25.1 innings.

The Vikings pushed the margin back to 3-1 in the sixth when Young scored on a two-out single by Meyer.

The Golden Grizzlies knotted the score in the home half of the sixth when Lindsey Frederick's two-out single plated a pair of unearned runs.

CSU wasted no time in responding, pushing four runs across in the top of the seventh. Houchin and Milosek both had run scoring doubles, and Haley Keller capped off the scoring with a two-out, two-run double.

Macenko picked up her 20th win of the season with 1.2 scoreless innings in relief of starter Christina Swierz. Swierz gave up six hits and three runs (one earned) in 5.1 innings of work.

In pushing her scoreless streak to 16.1 innings, Macenko became just the third pitcher in school history to record 20 victories in a season. Amy Kyler set the CSU record with 24 victories in 1997.

Frederick (0-1) took the loss for Oakland after surrendering 14 hits and seven runs in a complete game effort.

Houchin paced the Viking offense, going 6-for-8 on the day with three doubles.

"Once again, we got two very good pitching performances and some clutch hitting when we needed it," CSU head coach Angie Nicholson said. "I couldn't ask any more of the team right now, they're definitely playing their best softball of the season right now. The key is to continue this through the next two weekends."

Cleveland State closes out the regular season with a three-game set at Detroit over the weekend. The teams will play a twin bill on Saturday (May 5), followed by a single contest on Sunday. The Vikings will then host the 2007 Horizon League Championship on May 10-12.
