One of the top performers on the team, Christa Coppus will leave the program later this spring as one of the top all-around performers in the history of the program. She won't leave however before she gets the opportunity to earn All-Horizon League honors for the fourth conscutive season. A starter in all 149 games during her CSU career, she is being counted on once again to help anchor the Viking infield defense from her shortstop position. She starts her senior campaign as the Viking career record holder with a .361 batting average, a number accomplished because of her ability to hit for power, stroke the ball into the gaps and use her speed to bet out ground balls.

2008 - JUNIOR SEASON

Starter in all 49 games...hit .361 with 53 hits, 13 doubles, one triple, three homeruns, 26 RBI and six stolen bases...led team with .361 average, 53 hits, 26 RBI, 13 doubles and 17 walks...named All-Horizon League first-team selection...Horizon League Player of the Week (3/19)...ranked 74th among Division I players in NCAA's "Toughest To Strike Out" category and 83rd in doubles per game...ranked among leaders in several Horizon League stat categories including doubles (tied 4th, 13), batting average (5th, .373), on base percentage (6th, .441), hits (tied 7th, 50) slugging percentage (9th, .552) and total bases (tied 9th, 74)...four-game hit streak from 4/30 to 5/8...went 4-for-5 with four RBI vs. Appalachian State (3/1) and 3-for-4 with three doubles and five RBI vs. Rider (3/14)...homeruns vs. Eastern Kentucky (3/2), Robert Morris (4/3) and Eastern Michigan (4/8).

2007 - SOPHOMORE SEASON

Garnered first team All-Horizon League accolades...started every game at shortstop, leading the team with a .405 batting average...team-high 64 hits and 12 game hitting streak from May 1 to May 12...collected, 13 doubles, three homeruns, 27 runs and 30 RBI...hit .417 with 20 hits and five RBI in league action...recorded a team-high 22 multi-hit and nine multi-RBI contests...hit .545 in six games at the Horizon League Championship, garnering the batting champion award and a spot on the all-tournament team.

2006 - FRESHMAN SEASON

Earned second team All-Horizon League honors, in addition to garnering a spot on the All-Newcomer squad...started every game at shortstop, scoring a school record 37 runs...hit .316 with 12 doubles, six home runs, 37 RBI and 13 stolen bases...upped mark to .397 (25-63) with 16 RBI and eight extra-base hits in league action...put together 13 multi-hit and 10 multi-RBI contests...had a two-out, two-run double to start rally in elimination game against UW-Green Bay (5/12)...went 5-for-5 with a pair of doubles and a triple at Wright State (4/29)...was 4-for-4 with three RBI and a pair of runs scored at UW-Green Bay (4/15)...belted a pair of home runs at Robert Morris (3/28).

HIGH SCHOOL

Four-time All-Ohio pick, including a first team selection each of her last two years...was second team All-Ohio as a sophomore and honorable mention as a freshman...led team to Division 3 state title in 2003 & `05 and to four straight league championships... league player of the year as a senior...four-time all-league and all-district selection...team went 100-12 during her four seasons.

Born Dec. 18, 1986... daughter of John and Luana Coppus...has a younger sister, Calli...CSU Athletic Academic Excellence Award winner...management and labor relations major.
