CLEVELAND - Talk about polar opposites. Last year's doubleheader at Robert Morris featured 39 hits and 38 runs. Tuesday's twin bill was much difference as Cleveland State blanked the Colonials twice -- 1-0 and 7-0 -- to run its winning streak to five games.

In the opener, Amanda Macenko (18-8) tossed her third shutout of the season -- a 59-minute gem -- in which she gave up four hits, threw just 55 pitches and allowed just one runner to reach first base.

RMU's Brenna Reed (9-9) was equally as impressive, giving up just four hits and an unearned run.

The Vikings scored the game's only run in the bottom of the third. Haley Keller led off the frame with a single, advanced to second on a sacrifice, moved to third on a fielder's choice and came around to score on an error.

In the night cap, Christina Swierz (4-3) nearly matched Macenko's effort, giving up six hits in route to completing her second career shutout. She allowed just three Colonials to reach second base.

CSU jumped on RMU starter Stacy Davidson (4-3) in the bottom of the first as Michele Penney (double), Sarah Milosek (single) and Danielle Young (double) put together consecutive two-out hits.

Christa Coppus put the game out of reach in the sixth with a two-out, two-run double to close out the scoring.

"That was us today -- we executed offensively and were aggressive on defense," CSU head coach Angie Nicholson. "We're starting to come together at the right time and Amanda and Christina gave us two great pitching performances today."

The Vikings return to action on Wednesday with a 2:00 p.m. doubleheader at Oakland.
