Coleman Awarded Wild-Card Entry Into NCAA Championships

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - Senior Anthony Coleman was awarded one of the Eastern Wrestling League's seven wild-card entries to the NCAA Championships, to be held in St. Louis, Mo., on March 18-20. Coleman joins DeAngelo Penn, Matt Kallai, Ron Howard, Joe Phillips and Russ Davie, who all qualified on the basis of finishing in the top three in their weight class, in representing Cleveland State at the national championships.

Coleman needed the berth after losing in the third-place match at 141 to Bloomsburg's Scott Heckman, 13-8. The senior will be making his second appearance at the national championships after qualifying last year by finishing third.

In addition, senior Jason Effner was named one of five alternates to the NCAA Championships. Effner also finished fourth, losing to Pittsburgh's Justin Nestor, 2-0, for the second time during the EWL Championships in the third place match.
