Jason Effner is in his third year on the wrestling coaching staff and his second as Director of Wrestling Operations. Effner was a four-year starter at CSU from 2000-04, posting 64 wins at 157 and 165 pounds.
He served as team captain his senior year and took fourth in the EWL Tournament at 157, his highest finish at the league meet, and was named an NCAA alternate. He also posted second place finishes at the UCS Open and the Oklahoma Gold Classic during his sophomore and junior campaigns.
Effner, who placed fourth in the high school state tournament in 1999, is the oldest son of head coach Jack Effner.
He graduated from Cleveland State in 2004 with a degree in industrial engineering and is currently working toward a degree in civil engineering at CSU.
He resides in Garfield Heights, Ohio, and works as a project manager for Neshkin Construction.
