Cleveland State Men’s Tennis Looks To Remain Perfect In #HLTennis Play At NKU & IUPUI

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team will return to action with a pair of matches on the road this weekend, traveling to Northern Kentucky and IUPUI to continue Horizon League play. 

Match #24 | at Northern Kentucky | Saturday, April 15 | 7:00 p.m.
Match #25 | at IUPUI | Sunday, April 16 | 3:00 p.m. 

Last Time Out…
The Vikings remained perfect in Horizon League play, picking up a pair of wins against Youngstown State (4-3) and Chicago State (6-1) to improve to 17-6 on the year and 5-0 in #HLTennis matches.  

#HLTennis Slate
Cleveland State enters the fourth week of Horizon League play with a perfect 5-0 record – one of two league teams to be undefeated through the first three weeks of action. The Vikings are now 5-0 to begin #HLTennis play for the third time over the last four seasons that there has been a regular season slate (2020 regular season slate cancelled due to COVID-19). 

…Mareschal-Hay Remains Perfect In #HLTennis Singles Play
Cleveland State junior Maxime Mareschal-Hay remained perfect in Horizon League singles play last time out, picking up a pair of wins at the top of the lineup against Youngstown State and Chicago State to improve to 5-0 against league opponents. For his career, Mareschal-Hay is now 16-3 against #HLTennis opponents in regular season play.  

…Abboud & Gedlitschka 5-0 In #HLTennis Doubles Play
Cleveland State's No. 2 doubles team of JuandeDios Abboud and Carl Gedlitschka also improved to 5-0 against league opponents last weekend, picking up a pair of wins against YSU and Chicago State. Abboud and Gedlitschka are now 14-8 on the year, including an 11-5 mark when playing at the No. 2 spot this spring. 

CSU On Six-Match Win Streak
Cleveland State will enter Saturday's contest on a six-match win streak, while the Vikings have also won 13 of their last 15 matches. This marks the second time this season that the Vikings have won six+ straight matches, as they rattled off seven consecutive wins to close out the month of February.  

Mindry Closing In On 50th Career Singles Win
Entering this weekend's matches, senior Kade Mindry currently has 49 singles wins on his career, needing just one more victory to become the third Viking to reach the 50-win milestone this season. Mindry, who has won four out of his last five matches, would join teammates Maxime Mareschal-Hay and Raul Teichmann in the 50-win club. 

Vikings At The MMTP
Last weekend's matches against Youngstown State and Chicago State marked the final matches inside the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion for the Vikings this season, as Cleveland State closed out the year with a 10-1 record at home. This marked the second time since the MMTP opened that the Vikings have recorded double-digit wins at home, while it improved them to 54-16 all-time at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion. 

Looking Ahead
Cleveland State is battling for seeding position in the upcoming Horizon League Tournament, which will take place in Ann Arbor, Mich. First Round matches are slated for Friday, April 28, with Semifinals on Saturday, April 29 and the Championship match scheduled for Sunday, April 30 at the Varsity Tennis Center.
