BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Cleveland State men's tennis team extended its current win streak to four straight matches Sunday, picking up a 6-1 victory at Binghamton to improve to 8-4 overall this season.
The Vikings were once again able to pick up the early doubles point, as Kade Mindry and Raul Teichmann earned a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles, and Maxime Mareschal-Hay and Mikael Erler posted a 6-2 victory at the No. 3 spot. This marked the fifth straight match that the Vikings earned the 1-0 advantage.
Cleveland State was then able to quickly add to its lead at the start of singles play, as Teichmann earned a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 3 spot, and Erler was able to pick up a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles to put the Vikings up 3-0.
Mareschal-Hay picked up the clinching point at the top of the lineup, earning a 6-1, 7-5 victory to give the Vikings their fourth point of the match. Devin Boyer (7-6(7), 6-0) and Carl Gedlitschka (1-6, 6-4, 6-3) also added wins for the Vikings.
After this weekend's matches, Mareschal-Hay and Teichmann both own a team-best 14 singles wins, while Gedlitschka has 12. On the doubles courts, Mindry and Teichmann have a team-best 12-5 overall record, including an 8-2 mark at the top of the lineup this spring.
Cleveland State will continue its current roadswing with a trio of matches next weekend, traveling to DePaul to face Eastern Kentucky, Army and the host Blue Demons.
