Cleveland State Men's Tennis Earns 7-0 Sweep Over Bryant

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Cleveland State men's tennis team won its third straight match Saturday, picking up a 7-0 sweep against Bryant in a neutral site match. With the win, the Vikings improved to 7-4 overall this year.

Cleveland State was able to pick up the early doubles point with matching 6-3 wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, with Raul Teichmann/Kade Mindry and Mikael Erler/Devin Boyer picking up the respective wins.

The Vikings were then able to sweep all six singles matches, including a 7-6(12), 7-6(2) victory from Maxime Mareschal-Hay at the top of the lineup to mark his team-leading 13th singles win of the year. Joining Mareschal-Hay with 13 wins on the season is Raul Teichmann who earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles on Saturday.

Mikael Erler became the fifth Viking to reach double-digit singles wins on the year on Saturday, picking up a 3-6, 6-3, 1-0(2) win at the No. 3 spot.

Devin Boyer (6-2, 6-2) and Carl Gedlitschka (6-2, 6-3) notched straight set wins at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively, while JuandeDios Abboud picked up a 3-6, 6-2, 1-0(4) victory at the No. 6 spot to close out singles play.

The Vikings will continue the weekend tomorrow (Sunday, February 19), facing Binghamton at 2:00 p.m.
