Erler earned a spot in the Singles Main Draw finals after picking up a 6-3, 6-0 victory against teammate Maxime Mareschal-Hay in the semifinals. Erler then earned a come-from-behind 3-6, 7-5, 1-0(4) victory against Buffalo's Simon Wibler in the championship match, marking the fifth time out of the six year history of the Viking Invitational that Cleveland State has won the singles title.

"I thought this was a great overall tournament, that had lots of good, clean, high-level tennis matches," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "The team was able to play a lot of tennis throughout the tournament, and I thought we had really good showings in doubles and singles up and down the lineup. Credit to Mikael for picking up the singles title, he played a great match – including saving three match points – to add his name to the list of Cleveland State players who have been victorious at the Viking Invitational over the years."

Kade Mindry also made an appearance in the Singles Main Draw semifinals, coming up short in a 6-2, 6-2 decision against Wibler.

Ty Rothchild picked up a singles back draw victory for the Vikings on Sunday, earning a 6-3, 4-6, 1-0(8) win against Niagara's Roberto Vaca.

The Vikings were able to pick up wins in all three of their back draw doubles matches on Sunday, with Cole Chappell and Erler earning a 6-3 win over Binghamton, Mareschal-Hay and Andrew Zimcosky posting a 6-1 win over IUPUI and Devin Boyer and Rothchild earning a 6-2 victory against Binghamton.

Cleveland State will close out its fall campaign next weekend, hosting the Green & White Invitational on Saturday, November 5 and Sunday, November 6.
