CLEVELAND, Ohio – After a solid performance in the first race of the year, the Cleveland State cross country team will continue the 2013 season this weekend, participating in the Running Fit-Detroit Titan Invitational. The women's 5K is set for an 11:15 a.m. start on Saturday, Sept. 7 at Cass Benton Park in Northville, Mich.

The Vikings opened the 2013 season at the Dayton Flyer 5K Challenge last weekend, with the majority of the runners being underclassmen due to preseason injuries. As a team, Cleveland State placed sixth, while freshman Ashlyn Woods placed 28th overall to lead the Viking pack.

The next four Viking finishers were also running in their first collegiate race, including Erin Pavick who crossed the line close behind Woods with a 29th place finish. Sarah Mallow, Alanna Shamrock and Amelia Holt then rounded out the top-five finishers for Cleveland State.

The group of Ashley Lydic, Shannon Kruger, Jesse Stallings, Megan O'Keefe and Amanda Kalain also ran in last weekend's race, while the trio of Ashley Berlin, Tori Holt and Katie Webb will hopefully be able to compete for the first time this season at Saturday's 5K after sitting the first weekend out because of injuries.
