Vikings Competed Against Top Schools at Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio-  The Cleveland State women's swimming and diving team competed at Ohio State's McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on Friday evening.

The Vikings swimmers were led by freshman Dayna Kiekebosch, senior Alex Johnasson, and freshman Rowan Elbadry.  Kiekebosch had a solid time of 1:08.86 in the 100 breastroke.  Johansson had improvement in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke.  In the 100 butter fly she touched the wall at 58.18 and in the 50 yard freestyle she timed out at 24.46.  Elbadry won the 200 Freestyle over Denison with a time of 1:53.27.

Head Coach Wally Morton spoke about how the meet went for CSU. "We are in a very heavy part of our training and lifting in our practices.  We have solid performances we can build upon and are looking to continuing to improve week in and week out.  We got a great opportunity to compete against the top teams in the nation.  From that, we will get better from what competition we faced."

CSU fell to Ohio State 252-48, Virginia Tech defeated the Vikings 248-50, and Denison won 188-112.  The Vikings will return home to the pool on Friday (Nov. 8), as the team will swim against St. Bonaventure at Robert F. Busbey Natatorium.  The swimming and diving events will begin at 3:00 p.m.
