SETTING THE SCENE:

The Cleveland State men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be in action this week on Friday (Nov. 1), 5:00 p.m., as the team will travel to Columbus, Ohio to swim against Ohio State, Denison, and Virginia Tech.  The men will then have their second home meet of the year, as the Vikings will swim against Miami (OH) with events beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 2).

REVIEWING LAST WEEK:

Men - Won, 149-92 over Green Bay

Women-  Lost, 138-105 to Green Bay

  • The women had solid showings from freshman Rowan Elbadry and Jodi Turk who both had two first place finishes.

WOMEN HAVE STRONG SHOWING FROM ELBADRY AND TURK:

  • Freshman Rowan Elbadry and sophomore Jodi Turk finished first in two swim events.
  • Elbadry won the 200 free with a top time of 1:52.72, and in the 100 free she had a time of 52.04.
  • Turk had a solid swim meet where she won the 1,000 free (10:32.10) and finished atop in the 500 free (5:09.58).

STARTING OUT WITH A SPLASH:

  • The men and women won three out of the four diving events against Green Bay.
  • On the womens side Samantha Sposet scored a 245.77 in the 1-meter dive to take first.

14 FIRST PLACE WINS:

  • Between both the men and women the Vikings had 14 first place finishes against Green Bay.
  • The first place finishes were in 3-meter diving (men), 400 yard medley relay (men), 1,000 yard freestyle (men and women), 200 yard free (women), 50 yard free (men), 1-meter dive (men and women), 200 fly (men), 100 free (men and women), 500 free (men and women), and 200 yard breast (men).

SECOND PLACE FINISHES:

  • The men and women had 11 second second place finishes on the afternoon against Green Bay.

UP NEXT:

  • The men's and women's swimming and diving teams will return back home to Busbey Natatorium on Friday (Nov. 8) as the Vikings will swim against St. Bonaventure.  The swim events will begin at 3:00 p.m.  The men and women will then travel to Niagara for a dual meet on Saturday (Nov. 9) with the meet beginning at 1:00 p.m.
