Women Open Strong in First Home Dual Meet

CLEVELAND, Ohio-  The Cleveland State women's swimming and diving team fell to Green Bay 138-105 at Robert F. Busbey Natatorium.

Freshman Rowan Elbadry and Sophomore Jodi Turk had two first place finishes in their individual events.  Elbadry won the 200 yard freestyle (1:52.72) and she won the 100 yard freestyle (52.04).  Turk won the 1,000 yard free (10:32.10) and the 500 yard freestyle (5:09.58).

Head Coach Wally Morton is very impressed on the way how freshman Rowan Elbadry has been swimming for CSU and how the team swam for the first time at home in dual meet play.

"She has established herself as one of the top sprinters in the conference so far," said Morton.  "It was also great getting to see key contirbutions from Hayley Smith, Madisen Tretter, and Dayna Kiekebosch.  Everyday, Tretter is coming along in practice.  The team has been very productive in practice and are trying to get better everyday."

On the diving end Samantha Sposet, Alex DiMasso, and Kathleen Chandler had solid showings in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.  Sposet led the way in the 3-meter diving placing second with a score of 246.83 and in the 1-meter diving she had the top score of 245.77.

The women will travel to Columbus, Ohio on Friday (Nov. 1), as the team will swim against Ohio State, Denison, and Virginia Tech.  The events will begin at 5:00 p.m.
