Cleveland State Wrestling Finishes Third in NWCA Scholar All-American Standings

MANHEIM, Pa. – The NWCA announced the 2021-22 Scholar All-America Team and Individual honorees for Division 1 with awards going to 289 individuals representing 74 institutions.

For the second straight year, Cleveland State came in third in the NWCA Top-30 Scholar All-American team standings after posting a 3.55 GPA. Last season, the Vikings posted a GPA of 3.53. The Green and White were the highest of the MAC teams to be ranked, and the highest of Ohio teams to be featured.

Head Coach Josh Moore said, "Having the third-highest team GPA in the country shows our commitment to academic excellence within the Cleveland State wrestling program. We are extremely proud of this accomplishment and want to thank the NWCA for recognizing our program."

Long Island finished atop the field with a 3.62 GPA followed by Hofstra with a 3.57 GPA.

The Vikings had four Scholar All-American selections; Daniel Bucknavich, DeAndre Nassar, Marcus Robinson, and Riley Smucker.

NC State and Wisconsin led the list of honorees with eight selections, while Rutgers, Ohio State, Illinois, Iowa, and Michigan each had seven winners. In all, the Scholar list includes 188 National Qualifiers, 56 All-Americans, 13 National Finalists, and 6 National Champions.
