Cleveland State Wrestling Drops MAC Match to Lock Haven

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Cleveland State fell to Lock Haven 32-6 in a MAC match on Friday evening. With the setback, the Vikings dropped to 7-8 overall and 4-4 in the MAC.

Head coach Josh Moore of Cleveland State went against his twin brother and head coach of Lock Haven, Scott Moore. This was the first time the two faced off in a dual match.

Lock Haven claimed the early 5-0 lead with a 21-5 technical fall at 125-pounds. Jake Manley won 6-3 at 133-pounds as the Vikings now trailed 5-3.

The Bald Eagles answered back with an 11-0 major decision at 141-pounds and an 8-2 decision at 149-pounds to lead 12-3. At the conclusion of the latter match, Cleveland State was deducted a team point as the scoreboard read, 12-2.

Lock Haven claimed the next four matches with two decisions, a tech fall, and a fall to lead 29-2.

Ben Smith blanked his opponent at 197-pounds, 8-0, earning a major decision as the Green and White trailed 29-6.

The Bald Eagles claimed the final match of the evening at 285-pounds, 5-3, winning the MAC match, 32-6. 

In the lone exhibition match of the evening at 285-pounds, John Kelbly won with a fall in 3:47.

The Vikings remain in Pennsylvania for another MAC match on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Bloomsburg.
