CLEVELAND, Ohio-  The Cleveland State wrestling team will be in action away from home for their final regular season matches on Sunday (Feb. 23), as the Vikings will travel to Athens, Ohio to take on Gardner-Webb at 12:00 p.m. and Ohio at 3:00 p.m.

The Vikings defeated Rider 24-23 last time out, to win their first conference match of the season.  CSU had wins from Daniel King (133), Jared McKinley (141), Nick Montgomery (149), Ray Stone (197), and Riley Shaw (285).

King won his 20th match of the year by decision (9-3) in an upset win over 27th ranked Chuck Zeisloft of Rider.  His decision win was his sixth of the season.  McKinley posted his 17th win of the season, defeating Paul Kirchner by fall (2:08).  Montgomery followed behind McKinley adding his fourth pin (1:12) of the season over 31st ranked Curt Delia.  His upset win gave him 15 victories on the campaign.  Stone added his second forfeit win of the year over David Fenton of Rider.  Finally, Shaw tallied his ninth win of the year over Rider's Greg Velasco (8-3) by decision.      

With his victory against Rider King is 20-15 on the year, and has recorded seven pins, seven major decisions, and six decisions.  McKinley's win by pin improved his record to 17-12 overall with two pins, one tech fall, five major decisions, five decisions, and three wins by forfeit.  Montgomery on the season is 15-9 for CSU with four pins, one tech fall, two major decisions, and eight decisions.  Shaw earned his 18th win of the season last weekend, and has three pins, four major decisions, nine decisions, and two wins by forfeit.    

Following this weekend's matches, Cleveland State will prepare for, and host the 2014 EWL Wrestling Championships on Saturday (Mar. 8) at Woodling Gymnasium.  The wrestling tournament will begin at 10:00 a.m. with prelims in the morning and finals starting late afternoon.  For tickets and more information call 216-687-4848.
