CLEVELAND, OHIO-  The Cleveland State wrestling team will hit the road over the weekend for back-to-back EWL dual meets, first against Bloomsburg on Friday (Jan. 31) at 7:00 p.m. and will then head over to Lock Haven on Saturday (Feb. 1), with wrestling beginning at 2:00 p.m.

The Vikings had their first EWL match of the year last Friday (Jan. 24) against No.14 Edinboro, falling 39-4.  Despite the loss, Nick Montgomery earned a 9-1 decision victory over Edinboro's Jeff Miller.  Montgomery tallied his second major decision of the year, improving his record to 12-7.

The Vikings had 13 wrestlers  compete in the Southern Scuffle earlier this season (Jan. 1-2).  On day one of the Scuffle, CSU had many wrestlers earn victories against their opponents.  Michael Carlone, Jared McKinley, Nick Montgomery, and Riley Shaw all posted wins.  Carlone tallied two wins with a pin and also won by forfeit.  McKinley won by a 15-3 major decision, giving him two major decisions on the year.  Montgomery earned a victory by decision, 5-1, and Shaw picked up a second major decision win of the year.

The Vikings competed in the Purple Raider Open over the weekend to get some work in before Edinboro.  Freshman Nick Montgomery (149) had a solid showing at the tournament finishing as the  runner-up, while Corbin Boone (197) placed third and Ray Stone (197) finished sixth.

At 125 pounds, freshman John Martin finished fourth overall and at 133 pounds Daniel King finished fifth.

Following this weekend's duals, the Vikings will head back home to host Eastern Michigan on Wednesday (Feb. 5).  Wrestling will begin at 7:00 p.m.
