Cleveland State Men’s Tennis Finishes #HLTennis Regular Season Slate With Perfect 8-0 Record

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's tennis team finished the 2024 campaign with a perfect 8-0 record in the Horizon League after picking up a 6-1 victory over Youngstown State on Saturday evening. With the win, the Vikings finish regular season play with a 19-6 overall record.

This marks the fifth undefeated #HLTennis regular season slate for the Vikings and the first since 2021.

Cleveland State got off to a quick start after picking up the doubles point, as JuandeDios Abboud/Carl Gedlitschka earned a 6-4 win at the top of the lineup and Devin Boyer/Lincoln Battle posted a 6-0 win at the No. 3 spot.

Kade Mindry gave the Vikings a quick 2-0 lead at the start of singles play then, as he earned a 6-0, 6-4 win at the No. 3 spot before Nico Jamison put Cleveland State up 3-0 with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles.

Cleveland State's clinching point came from Cole Chappell at No. 6 singles, earning a 7-6(7), 6-1 victory to cap off the Vikings' undefeated #HLTennis season.

The Vikings also added singles wins at No. 2 and No. 1 singles, with Mikael Erler earning a 1-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory at the No. 2 spot and Battle earning a 7-6(4), 2-6, 6-4 victory at the top of the lineup.

Cleveland State will now get set for Horizon League Tournament play, as the Vikings will enter next weekend's tournament as the No. 1 seed in the North Division.
