Cleveland State Men’s Tennis Hits The Road For Saturday Match At Chicago State

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's tennis team will continue Horizon League play on the road this weekend, traveling to Chicago State on Saturday, April 6.

Last Time Out…
The Vikings picked up a pair of wins at Northern Kentucky (4-3) and IUPUI (6-1), improving to 4-0 in Horizon League play and 14-6 overall this year.

Vikings Extend Win Streak
Cleveland State enters Saturday's match having won six straight matches, including four in #HLTennis play. This marks the second time this season that the Vikings have won five+ consecutive matches.

On The Road Again
Saturday's match at Chicago State will the final regular season road match of the season for the Vikings, as Cleveland State will close out the 2024 spring campaign with a four-match homestand.

Battle Named #HLTennis Singles Player of the Week
After going 2-0 at No. 1 singles last weekend freshman Lincoln Battle was named the Horizon League Singles Player of the Week for the sixth time this season. Battle posted a 6-4, 6-2 win at NKU, while he earned a come-from-behind 1-6, 7-5, 6-3 win at IUPUI. With the wins, Battle is now 13-5 this spring playing the majority of his matches at the top of the lineup.

Trio Remains Perfect In #HLTennis Singles Play
Entering this weekend's matchup three Vikings are undefeated in Horizon League singles play, as Lincoln Battle, Mikael Erler and Carl Gedlitschka are all 4-0 in league play. Battle has picked up all four of his wins at No. 1 singles, while Erler has earned his wins at the No. 2 spot, and Gedlitschka has posted his wins at No. 6 singles.

Gedlitschka & Abboud Record 30th Doubles Win
With a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles against Northern Kentucky the Cleveland State duo of Carl Gedlitschka and JuandeDios Abboud recorded their 30th win as a tandem. The duo, who has a team-best 15-9 record on the year, currently ranks third on the CSU Doubles Wins List with their 30 wins as one of just three teams all-time to reach the 30-win milestone as a duo.
