AUSTIN, Texas - The Cleveland State men's tennis team closed out its annual Spring Break Trip Tuesday, picking up a 5-2 victory against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. With the win, the Vikings are now 9-6 overall this season.
The Vikings were able to pick up the doubles point on the match, with Carl Gedlitschka/JuandeDios Abboud earning a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles and Lincoln Battle/Devin Boyer posting a 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi was able to even the match with a win at the No. 3 spot to begin singles play, before Mikael Erler gave the Vikings a 2-1 lead with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles.
Battle then gave Cleveland State a 3-1 edge following a 7-5, 6-3 win at the top of the singles lineup, while Nico Jamison clinched the match for the Vikings with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at the No. 6 spot.
Cleveland State also picked up a singles win at the No. 5 spot, with Gedlitschka earning a 7-6, 6-2 win.
The Vikings will be back in action on Friday, March 22, when they begin Horizon League play at Youngstown State.
