Cleveland State Men’s Tennis Set To Host UIC, Buffalo & Findlay

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team will return to the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion for three matches this weekend, hosting UIC on Friday, February 16 and Buffalo and Findlay on Sunday, February 18. 

Cleveland State enters the weekend with a 6-2 record on the year, most recently splitting its road trip to Toledo (W, 4-3) and Ball State (L, 5-2). The win at Toledo marked the third straight 4-3 victory for the Vikings, with Cleveland State now owning a 3-1 record in 4-3 matches this season.  

Following last weekend's performances, the Vikings swept the Horizon League weekly awards for the fourth straight week, with Kade Mindry picking up Singles Player of the Week honors and JuandeDios Abboud and Carl Gedlitschka being named the Doubles Team of the Week. 

Entering this weekend's matches, Devin Boyer has a team-best 16-5 singles record on the year, while Gedlitschka is 15-4 overall this year. In doubles, Abboud and Gedlitschka own a team-best 10-5 record on season, while the duo moved into a tie for sixth place on the CSU Doubles Wins List with 25 victories as a tandem. 

So far this year, the Vikings own a perfect 3-0 record when playing at the MMTP, picking up wins over Binghamton, Butler and Duquesne through the first part of the season.
