WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Cleveland State men's tennis team continued play at the Wake Forest Invite Saturday, led by Cole Chappell and JuandeDios Abboud advancing to the championship match in their respective singles draw.

Chappell and Abboud, who will now face each other in the D1 Singles Flight, picked up wins against Shenandoah and UNC Asheville opponents, respectively, in their semifinal matches on Saturday.

Abboud also had a strong day in doubles play, as he teamed with Carl Gedlitschka to pick up a 6-0 victory over a Radford duo to claim the B2 Doubles Flight title and finish the weekend 3-0.

Cleveland State was also able to pick up six backdraw singles wins on Saturday, with Ty Rothchild, Devin Boyer, Austin Staiger, Nico Jamison, Lincoln Battle, and Gedlitschka all earning victories.

In addition, Rothchild and Andrew Zimcosky went 2-0 in doubles play on Saturday, while Mikael Erler/Jamison and Staiger/Chappell also earned doubles wins.

Play at the Wake Forest Invite will conclude tomorrow, with doubles play beginning at 9:30 a.m.
