Cleveland State Men’s Tennis Continues Play At Viking Invitational

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team continued play at the Viking Invitational Saturday, with Mikael Erler advancing to the semifinals of the Main Singles Draw.

UPDATED SINGLES DRAW | UPDATED DOUBLES DRAW

Erler picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win over Youngstown State's Harry Fouzas in the third round, before earning a 2-6, 7-5, 1-0(5) come-from-behind win against YSU's Nishant Dabas in the quarterfinals. Erler will now play Perry Gregg of Holy Cross in a semifinal contest Sunday morning.

The Vikings also picked up five back draw wins on Saturday, with JuandeDios Abboud, Devin Boyer, Nico Jamison, and Austin Staiger advancing to the semifinals of their respective draws.

In doubles, the Cleveland State duo of Nico Jamison and Andrew Zimcosky advanced to the championship match of the 16 Back Draw, earning a pair of 7-5 wins against Youngstown State and Western Michigan on Saturday.

In addition, Carl Gedlitschka and JuandeDios Abboud advanced to the semifinals of the Main Doubles Draw with a 6-1 victory over Dayton, before coming up short in their semifinal matchup.

Play at the Viking Invitational will conclude tomorrow, beginning with doubles at 9:00 a.m.
