CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's tennis team closed out its first weekend of the 2023 Fall Campaign Sunday, posting another strong performance at the YSU Invite.
"I'm very happy with how we competed this weekend, we didn't leave any matches on the court for lack of effort," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "This was a very good start and we can't wait to get to work again this week and get better for the next tournament."
The Vikings once again had a strong doubles performance on Sunday, picking up seven wins out of their eight doubles match ups.
Carl Gedlitschka and Devin Boyer both picked up singles wins on Sunday to finish the weekend 3-0 in singles play. Boyer earned a 6-2, 6-4 win against Eastern Kentucky, while Gedlitschka picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win over Xavier.
In addition, Andrew Zimcosky, Austin Staiger, JuandeDios Abboud, and Ty Rothchild also picked up singles wins on Day Two of the YSU Invite
Cleveland State will be off from competition until late October, when the Vikings return to action at the ITA Midwest Regionals beginning on Thursday, October 19.
