Cleveland State Men’s Tennis Set To Host Butler & Findlay

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team will continue the 2023 spring season with a pair of matches inside the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion this weekend, hosting Butler and Findlay on Saturday, February 4.

Match #7 | Findlay | Saturday, February 4 | 6:00 p.m. 

Cleveland State stands at 2-3 on the young season, and will be closing out its current four-match homestand this weekend. 

Last time out, the Vikings split their matches against Xavier and St. Bonaventure, earning a 5-2 victory over the Bonnies, improving to 47-15 all-time when playing at the MMTP.

Through the first five matches of dual match play, senior Raul Teichmann owns a team-best 9-8 singles record on the year, while Kade Mindry and Mikael Erler both have eight singles wins so far this season. 

Freshman Ty Rothchild made his dual match debut last time out, while classmate Andrew Zimcosky appeared in the singles lineup for the first time this spring.  

On the doubles courts, Mindry and Teichmann own a 2-2 record this spring, while JuandeDios Abboud and Carl Gedlitschka own a matching 2-2 record in dual match play. 

Last weekend's victory over St. Bonaventure marked the 292nd head coaching win for Brian Etzkin, as he entered the spring season tracking down 300 career victories at Cleveland State.
