Cleveland State Men’s Tennis Closes Out Action At ITA Midwest Regional

URBANA, Ill. – The Cleveland State men's tennis team closed out play at the ITA Midwest Regional Saturday, with Maxime Mareschal-Hay and Mikael Erler both advancing to the second round of the Main Singles Draw.

During the first round, Mareschal-Hay earned a 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 victory over Michigan State's Max Sheldon, while Erler picked up a 6-7, 6-4, 7-6 win against Peter Kuszynski of Western Michigan.

Mareschal-Hay and Erler then dropped straight set decisions in both of their second round matches.

This marked the second straight year that Mareschal-Hay has advanced to the second round of the Main Singles Draw at the ITA Midwest Regional, while it marks the first time that Erler has won a round in the singles draw.

The Vikings will continue their fall slate at home this weekend, hosting the Viking Invitational Friday, October 28 through Sunday, October 30.
