Nate Brunner enters his second season as an assistant coach and third overall with the Vikings lacrosse team.

The 2024 campaign will go down as one of the best seasons in program history, as Cleveland State went 9-8 overall, setting the record for most wins in a season. Brunner helped the Vikings to a 5-4 record in the ASUN, securing their first-ever postseason spot as the fifth seed in the conference tournament. The team defeated Bellarmine in the first round, 15-12, for their first postseason victory. During the season, he helped the team to a program-record four-game winning streak.

Brunner assisted the team to a program record in saves (206) and shots on goal (349). The squad finished second in points (253), goals (167), shots (594), ground balls (488), caused turnovers (109), and faceoff wins (205).

Brunner helped Griffin Valli to the ASUN Second Team and the All-Freshman Team, along with Wyatt Robertson. For their efforts in the classroom, Alex Van Voorhis and Amiri Austin were named to the All-Academic Team.

Brunner rejoined the Vikings in 2024 after spending a season at Ohio State University as a volunteer assistant. The Buckeyes won five games and advanced to the Big Ten quarterfinals. Brunner worked with the faceoff unit that finished the year with a .455 winning percentage.

Brunner spent the 2022 season as a volunteer assistant with the Vikings. In that season, the Green and White competed in a conference for the first time in program history, playing as members of the ASUN Conference.

In their first year eligible for postseason awards, the Vikings received five ASUN honors, highlighted by Gannon Matthews being named ASUN Freshman of the Year. In addition, Matthews was also named First Team All-Conference and was joined on the All-Freshman team by Amiri Austin. Off the field, Matt Manfredi was selected to the ASUN All-Academic Team and was named a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award. The Green and White concluded the year with a 3-10 overall record.

Brunner spent two seasons as a volunteer assistant at Baldwin Wallace University. In his role, he worked with the faceoff unit. During his time, the Yellow Jackets went 15-6 while winning the 2021 OAC Regular Season Championship.

Brunner played two seasons at Limestone University, appearing in 21 games. Brunner went 63-of-101 in the faceoff circle, picking up 32 ground balls, and dishing out an assist.

His career at Limestone as a player under Coach Clarke, along with his coaching experience at Baldwin Wallace under Coach Keeley has given him a tremendous foundation," German said. "Not only will our face-off unit benefit from his expertise, but our whole program will benefit from having someone with his experience with us on the day-to-day."
