Recap |  Final Stats |  Notes

Cleveland State Head Coach Gary Waters:
(Opening statement) "This was one of those kind of games that each guy wanted to play without. They wanted to get through this game. They were a little exhausted, not as motivated as I'd like. I can hang my hat on one thing: they played defense. All I asked them to do was play defense; they played defense."

(On the first half)"We spent the whole time before we hit the floor talking about that. They heard me, they just didn't listen to me. I can't be overly displeased. I told them they had to hold this team under 50 points; they did. I told them to hold them under 35 percent shooting; they did that."

"Devon can do that, he can score on the block. He likes to. The only issue that Devon is having is that he needs to understand there's more to this game than scoring on that block. The more he works on those other things, the better he's going to get."

(On his bench) "We had too many fouls today. The one I want to get his confidence back up is Charlie Woods. We're going to use him, and we want his confidence to get stronger."

(On how long he played his starters) "I told my starters I was going to get them 25 minutes each. Where we're hurting is we don't have enough guards. We only have four guars in the whole equation. You need six guards."

(On the 4-0 start) "It's good that we're showing some consistency, because the road game is the key. We were average on the road last year, I want us to take a step forward this year. If we're going to have a chance to win this league, we need to do well on the road."
