Postgame Quotes

Cleveland State vs. George Mason

Nov. 11, 2006

Cleveland State Head Coach Gary Waters On Chances To Win The Game: "I thought we had an opportunity to win that game. We played well enough to win but I don't think we defended the interior well enough and they hit some big shots. I thought those shots gave them life. One thing our team needs to learn is how to execute down to the end."

On Differences In Game: "We need to do a better job inside. It was too easy for them to score on us. They had a size advantage on us and their big guys hit a couple of shots in there. But the most important thing was that in crucial times, we didn't execute."

On Battle Between Bullock And Thomas: "J'Nathan is a player and he can compete against pretty much anyone. He did a great job today. But when you have guys of the magnitude of Thomas, they're hard to stop. You need some help. We probably should've double him. We had worked on our defense, but we didn't do the same things in the second half as we did in the first half."

On Learning How To Defend Homecourt: I'm trying to teach out team that this is our home court. You don't let people come into your home and take something away from you. They took something away today."

Cleveland State Guard Victor Morris On Finishing Games: "We have to work on closing games out. We had a 16-point lead and we can't let those things get away like that."

Cleveland State Guard Joe Davis On What CSU Takes Away From Game: "Today was a learning experience. We have a long way to go. Definitely a long way to go. We feel like we can win our conference without a doubt."

On Hot Start As A Freshman: "We still have a long way to go. It would have better if we got a `W'.

Cleveland State Forward J'Nathan Bullock On Playing Against George Mason: "We came in the game expecting to win. There was no doubt in my mind. We weren't just coming in to play with this team, we were coming in to beat this team. We looked at it like, `We put our shorts on just like you put your shorts on. It's time to play ball.' "

George Mason Head Coach Jim Larranaga On Playing First Game After Final Four Run: "You need to test yourself in that first game. You test yourself everyday in practice. We know the personnel on our team. We know who can shoot and who can rebound. We had been working on our press and part of that was putting it in for us but part of that was getting ready for Cleveland State."

On Cleveland State And Gary Waters: They have an athletic team and Gary likes the up-tempo game. I think it's good for Gary to be back in the midwest recruiting kids he can identify with. Players tend to listen to the new coach and get things heading in the right direction. I think he's going to do a great job here."
