Recap |  Final Stats |  Notes

Cleveland State Head Coach Gary Waters:
"I thought it was hard, but nobody said it was going to be easy. Our kids were resilient and wanted this win badly. Eight of Detroit's first 11 conference losses were by five or less. So you have to play them because they play you hard. We made it difficult for ourselves because of some of the shots we missed."

"We went a little zone for a short time, but that's not us. We give up to many shots in a zone. Our defense is part of the way we score and you can't score much out of the zone. I thought D'Aundray did a great job defensively on Jon (Goode)."

"We did a great job against their zone tonight. When you can't hit a shot and score points, that's hard to do. We worked it to death to get J'Nathan every look he could get. Our guys did a great job getting the ball to him in scoring positions."

"We did a much better job at the free throw line. We shot 86 percent at the line and I can't complain about that. But we fouled way to much again tonight, just like on that last roadtrip. We have to get out of that habit."

"I think our guys freed themselves a little bit, but we've got to get our shooters shooting and make some shots. We did a good job running our offense and getting the shots we wanted. There is going to be a game when we start hitting the shots."

Cleveland State's J'Nathan Bullock:
"The game of basketball is a game of adjustments. Teams get a chance to disect everything you do. We have to keep making adjustments."

"I knew I had to make big plays down the stretch. That is my role. It is good to get a win like this."

Cleveland State's Cedric Jackson:
"The losing streak was frustrating, but we didn't let it get us down and continued to fight hard. We had to keep doing what we were doing in the past to get us over that hump."

Detroit Interim Head Coach Kevin Mondro:
"I'm real proud of my team and they way they battled. There is no quit in them. Hats off to Coach Waters and his squad. You can't come in here and turn the ball over 22 times and expect to win."

"I challenged our guys to get five in double figures and we came awfully close. I thought that would be how we could win the game."

"We wanted to zone them and mix up the defenses and I think we did a good job in doing that. But Bullock and Jackson made some plays down the stretch and helped them bounce back from their bad streak."
