Postgame Quotes

Cleveland State vs. Detroit

Jan 13, 2007

Cleveland State Head Coach Gary Waters: "The guys took it upon themselves to not concede anything. We gave it all we had. I think the biggest thing is that we followed our game plan."

On Winning To Reverse Recent Trends: "That was a good win for us because we were at our all-time low. We lost some close games, and then a couple players. We were either going to step up now, or it wasn't going to happen. Sometimes you have to go down to go up. We have been preaching that we have to step through the door when it opens."

On CSU's Execution In The Final Minutes: "Everyone steppped up in the last moments. We did not turn the ball over in the last minutes and we made bascially all of our free throws. I thought we defended well. We have been working on our defense every day."

Cleveland State Forward J'Nathan Bullock:  "Our whole make-up is our defense. We wanted our offense to feed off our defense. That's what happened, and it worked out for us."

On The Team's Thoughts About Winning At Home: "We had the mentality that we weren't going to let it happen again. We don't want anyone to come into our house and do what they want to do."

Cleveland State Guard Bahaadar Russell On The Team Effort: "As a team, everybody stepped up. We knew we could do it, and everything fell into place."

On Why He Had Such A Big Game:"It started with defense. I played good defense. That's where the confidence comes from. When you play good defense, you get into the flow of the game."

Detroit Head Coach Perry Watson: "We didn't play well until the second half. In this league on the road, you have to come to play 40 minutes. You have to give it to Cleveland State. Russell and Moss shot the ball well from three. But we didn't get after them until the second half."

On Reasons For The Slow Start: "We were a little banged up after playing three games in five days, but I thought we were ready to go. Cleveland State made some tough shots in the first half, and we didn't."
