Dok Muordar, a 6’11” center from Rumbek, South Sudan, is the newest member of the Cleveland State Men’s Basketball team, Head Coach Daniyal Robinson announced today. Muordar is a transfer student with three years of eligibility remaining.

 

“We’re all really excited to welcome Dok to our family,” Coach Robinson said. “First and foremost, Dok is a high character young man and a relentless worker. He is someone I really look forward to working with in the years ahead. On the court, Dok brings unique size and length to the Center position. He’ll be a rim protector for us on defense and poses a vertical threat on the other end. Dok has already shown incredible perseverance in his life when he came to the United States to pursue his dream of playing college basketball. What excites me and our staff the most about his arrival is we know his best basketball is still ahead of him.”

 

Muordar comes to Cleveland State after playing his freshman year at South Florida. He appeared in 19 games for the Bulls with one start this past season. He scored a season-high seven points at Cincinnati this past February and connected on seven of his nine field goal attempts on the season.

 

Muordar attended Huntington Prep in Huntington, West Virginia where he averaged a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds per game as a high school senior. Muordar also averaged four blocks per game. He received scholarship offers from LSU and Oregon State out of high school before ultimately choosing South Florida.

 

Muordar came to the United States from Sudan in 2018. Following a stint in high school in California, he transferred to Huntington Prep to further his basketball pursuits. He is joined by Courtney Norton and Theresa Meadow, who serve as his host family in the US.
