Cleveland State Fencing Wraps Up NCAA Midwest Regional

Evanston, IL-The Cleveland State Fencing team concluded the day at the NCAA Midwest Regional with multiple athletes placing. The Vikings unfortunately did not have any athletes place high enough to advance to the national championships, but it was a successful day overall. 

De'Mario Steele was the highest placer of the day for Cleveland State, finishing seventh in men's epee. Merik Pohl finished 11th, John Hackman placed 15th, Jesse Ndjeka placed 16th and Drew Walker rounded out the epee competitors for the Vikings finishing tied for 18th

In men's foil, Paul DiVenti finished ninth and Evran Walter and Harry Hardman finished in 12th and 13th respectively. 

On the women's side, Maia Taylor Casamayor finished eighth in women's epee as the highest place winner. Lily Robertson also placed 12th in the same event. 

In women's foil, Gabi Hirsch placed 14th and Shelbie Seeberg finished 16th. In women's saber, Ilyssa Freiburger placed 15th and Sarah Calvert finished 17th.
