Cleveland, OH-The Cleveland State Fencing Teams hosted the CSU Duals on Sunday inside Woodling Gymnasium. Highlights from the day included recognitions of CSU's six seniors, as well as Cleveland State Hall of Fame inductee Bill Reith, a former student-athlete and coach for the Vikings.
The Men finished 3-2 on the day, winning the last three matches after dropping the first two to start the day. The Women finished 4-1 on the day, with their only loss coming to Incarnate Word in round 3.
For the women, Epee was the strongest of the three weapons, as Cleveland State won Epee four out of five rounds on the day. The women finished a combined 30-15 in total.
On the Men's side, Foil and Epee were even. CSU won both events four out of five times on the day, and finished with identical 32-13 records in each combined for the day.
The Men defeated Incarnate Word, Detroit Mercy and Denison. The Women also defeated UDM and Denison, and picked up victories over Lawrence and Vassar as well.
Cleveland State is in action next at the DeCicco Duals in South Bend, Indiana. Competition is scheduled for Saturday, January 28th.
