13 Fencers Qualify at Midwest Regionals Over the Weekend

CLEVELAND, Ohio-  The Cleveland State fencing team has qualified a record breaking 13 athletes to the Midwest Regionals on Saturday, March 8 and will also be competing on Sunday, March 9.  To date the most fencers the team has qualified in the past is 10 athletes.  Of the 13 competitors the Vikings are sending, their are an impressive six freshman competing at regionals hosted by University of Detroit Mercy.

The men's team will be represented by seniors, Tom Bienvenu (saber) and Salih Yasun (epee),  junior Phelan Spence (foil), sophomore Paul Duchow (epee), and freshman fencers Gianfranco Trovato (foil), Brandon Bauer (foil), and David Schultz (saber) will be representing CSU.

On the women's side, Cleveland State will be represented by senior Maureen Fourinash (foil), junior's Christine Bocci (saber) and Sudeshna Chakraborty (foil).  Three freshman will be competing at regionals and they are Megan Rose (saber), Emily Serbiniowski (saber), and Samantha Finster (foil).
