CLEVELAND, Ohio– The Cleveland State women’s cross country team will get back to action this weekend, as the Vikings are set to compete at the Great Lakes Regional championship. The regional meet will take place on Saturday, November 12 at Ottawa Park in Toledo, Ohio, with the women’s 6k race slated to begin at 1:15 p.m.

The Vikings, who are coming off their best-ever finish at the Horizon League championship, will be one of 34 teams competing in the women’s regional, four of which are ranked among the nation’s top-30.

Last time out, CSU placed fourth at the Horizon League Championship with 167 team points. The Vikings had three runners place in the top-40, led by senior Allison Craine who finished 16th in a time of 20:03. Cleveland State’s fourth place finish marked the highest ever, while Craine’s 16th place finish marked the best individual finish over the past nine seasons.

Freshman Kendra Kezur and senior Kari Haywood were the other two Vikings to place in the top-40, Kezur finishing 31st in 21:00 and Haywood placing 34th in a time of 21:12. The quartet of Katie Webb, Tori Holt, Kelly Zaleski and Brittany Elmlinger rounded out the scoring group for CSU, led by Webb who placed 40th with a time of 21:22. Holt finished 46th in 21:34, Zaleski placed 48th in a time of 21:50 and Elmlinger placed 56th in 22:37.

Last year, the Vikings placed 31st at the Great Lakes Regional, paced by Craine and Andria Bazilevich.
