Craine Tabbed Horizon League Cross Country Runner Of The Week

Sept. 26, 2011

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Cleveland State senior cross country runner Allison Craine has been named the Horizon League Cross Country Runner of the Week for her performance at the Ohio University Invitational last Saturday (Sept. 24). The league office made the announcement on Monday afternoon.

"Allison is very deserving of this award," head coach Joe Jaketic said. "She runs hard in every race and every practice and always gives it everything she has. As a three-time captain, she is a great leader and is always pushing her teammates to achieve more, both during meets and outside of cross country."

Craine paced the Vikings for the fourth race this season at the OU Invitational, as she placed fifth overall with a 6k time of 23:13. Her time marked the third fastest 6k time since 2005 when Jaketic became head coach. Craine also posted her second sub-20 minute 5k time of the year during the race, as she had a 19:24 split at the 5k marker.

The honor is the third for Craine throughout her CSU career, as she was also tabbed the Horizon League Athlete of the Week as a junior (Oct. 11, 2010) and as a freshman (Sept. 27, 2007).

Craine and the Vikings will be back in action this Friday (Sept. 30), as they compete at the All-Ohio Championship in Cedarville, Ohio. Friday's race is set for a 2:45 p.m. start.
