THE STARTING LINE: The Vikings will travel to Athens, Ohio to compete in the Ohio University Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 22).

LAST TIME OUT: CSU ran to 14th place finish at the Mel Brodt Invitational hosted by Bowling Green on Sept. 15. Three athletes recorded personal best times, including Alison Craine who ran a 19:02 to shatter her old personal best by more than one minute. Julie Piotrowski (19:43) and Colleen Conway (20:04) also ran personal bests.

THE HEAD COACH: In his third season at the helm of the cross country team, Joe Jaketic has continued to make steady progress in building the program. Last season, Jaketic guided the squad to an eighth place showing at the Horizon League Championships. It marked the first time since the 1997 MCC Championships that CSU finished ahead of a league foe. Jaketic is a veteran of CSU athletics as he is in his 37th season overseeing the department's equipment operations.

LEADER OF THE PACK: Allison Craine has been CSU's top finisher in the first three races this season, including Saturday's Mel Brodt Invitational when she recorded a personal best time (19:02). That shattered her previous best time of 20:16 set at the Bill Sudeck Invitational on Sept. 1. Her 19:02 is the top time by a CSU runner in the 21st century.

SEEING DOUBLE: Identical twins Julie and Audrey Piotrowski are teaming up to cause opponents trouble this season. Julie, who missed all but one race last season due to injury, was the second finisher at the Mel Brodt Invitational (Sept. 15) with a personal-best of 19:43. Audrey was fifth for CSU in the first two events of the season and ran a season-best 22:10 on Saturday.

ON THE FAST TRACK: All eight CSU runners who ran at the Mel Brodt Invitational on Saturday recorded season-best times, including three who ran personal bests.

UP NEXT: The Vikings will return to action at the Earlham University Invitational next Saturday (Sept. 29). The race is slated to begin at 11:00 am.
