Vikings Compete At Friendship Invitational

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Senior Allison Craine paced the Cleveland State cross country team for the third straight time this season, as she posted a season-best time of 19:02 to place fourth at the Friendship Invitational. As a team, the Vikings scored 139 points to place seventh overall, while Cedarville University captured the title with 57 points.

"Individually we had a good day today, it was a great day to run in regards to the weather," head coach Joe Jaketic said. "Everyone posted their best times of the season to date, and hopefully we will be able to continue moving in that direction and continue to improve on our season times."

Freshman Kendra Kezur continued to improve during her first season at CSU, as she was the second Viking to cross the finish line and 27th overall, with a personal-best time of 20:07. The third Viking to finish was Kelly Zaleski, who placed 32nd with a time of 20:15.

Katie Webb and Kari Haywood also placed in the top-50 for CSU, as Webb finished 39th in a time of 20:27 and Haywood was 50th in 20:50. Rounding out the scoring for the Vikings were Tori Holt (53rd-20:53) and Angela Kirila (61st-21:14).

The Vikings will compete next at the Ohio University Invitational, which will take place on Saturday, September 24. The race will begin at 3:00 p.m. in Athens, Ohio.
