Frye Named #HLTF Championships Field Athlete of the Meet

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Cleveland State track & field team wrapped up action at the Horizon League Outdoor Championships Sunday, paced by another podium finish from Grace Frye in the Hammer.

"It was a team effort today and this entire year," head coach Jason Hudson said. "This meet will be a springboard for this team in such a positive direction, and I'm very proud of how we performed and supported each other."

Frye finished sixth overall in the Hammer with a mark of 49.00, marking her fourth podium finish in as many events. For her efforts, Frye was named the #HLTF Field Athlete of the Meet.

"Grace did an outstanding job in her first year at CSU, making an immediate impact on the team and in our league. It's very hard to be good in all of the throwing events, let alone win one, place second in another and score 25 points in all four," Hudson said.

Madelynn Madison appeared in a pair of finals on the day, placing eighth in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:26.66 and 10th in the 1500 with a time of 4:49.57.

Cleveland State also posted a podium finish in the 4x100 Meter Relay, with the quartet of Melinda Brown, Julia Rapp, Ky'Renae Matlock, and Madison Morris posting a time of 52.93.

The Vikings finished ninth overall as a team, recording 30 points on the weekend.
