Frye Picks Up Two More Wins On Day Two Of Sparky Adams Invitational

BEREA, Ohio - The Cleveland State track & field team closed out action at the Sparky Adams Invitational Saturday, paced once again by Grace Frye who won the Hammer and Shot Put events.

"This was a great meet for us, capped off by setting four school records from Grace and Natalie," head coach Jason Hudson said. "We are 12 days out from the Horizon League meet and are beginning to put things together. This is the second week we finished third as a team, and I'm really proud of what this group is doing and how they are setting the tone for the next few years."

Frye picked up where she left off yesterday, sweeping all four field events that she competed in. In addition to first place finishes in the Discus and Javelin, Frye also picked up event wins in the Hammer (49.43) and Shot Put (13.56), marking program-records in both events today.

Landry Driskel also posted a top-10 finish in the Shot Put, placing 10th overall with a mark of 10.54. Cleveland State's final top-10 field finish came from Ivana Babic in the High Jump, as she placed seventh with a mark of 1.46.

Cleveland State posted a pair of top-five finishes in sprint events Saturday, with Tilly Nasende placing third in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 1:00.28 and Julia Rapp finishing fourth in the 200 Meter Dash (26.27).

Natalie Keller posted Cleveland State's top distance finish on the day, placing second in the 5000 Meter Run with a program-record time of 17:53.21. The Vikings had two additional top-10 finishes in distance events, with Madelynn Madison placing fifth in the 800 Meter Run (2:20.67) and Ana Crangle placing ninth in the 1500 Meter Run (4:54.95).

Cleveland State also posted a second place finish in the 4x100 Meter Relay, with the quartet of Melinda Brown, Madison Morris, Julia Rapp, and Tilly Nasende finishing in a time of 50.31.
