Cleveland State’s Madelynn Madison Named #HLTF Co-Sportsmanship Award Winner

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Following the Horizon League Indoor Track & Field Championships, Cleveland State junior Madelynn Madison has been named the Co-Sportsmanship Award winner.

"I am very excited for Maddie to be recognized with this honor," head coach Jason Hudson said. "She is a great ambassador of the sport and is genuinely a nice person to not only those on our team, but also other competitors as well."

New for the 2023-24 academic year, the Horizon League's Sportsmanship Award recognizes student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. Sportsmanship is defined as behavior exhibited during competition by student-athletes based on values, respect and integrity.

As a distance runner on Cleveland State's roster, Madison always congratulates her competitors after races, while also saying thank you to officials and being courteous to all coaches. In addition, Madison is continually serving as a positive role model for the team.

Through the 2023-24 indoor campaign, Madison recorded six top-10 individual finishes, including a pair of second-place showings at the Ashland Last Chance meet (800) and the IUPUI Invite (5000).
