Cleveland State Track & Field Has Strong First Day At Emory Spring Break Classic

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Cleveland State track & field team opened its outdoor slate Friday, posting seven top-10 finishes at the Emory Spring Break Classic.

Cleveland State's top finish came from Grace Frye in the Shot Put, as she won the event with a school-record mark of 13.33. In addition, Frye also placed second in the Hammer Throw with a mark of 47.56 - marking a school record in the event.

Karly Klaer placed fifth in the Shot Put with a mark of 12.01, while Jillian McArdle and Landry Driskel both recorded a pair of 10th place finishes in field events, McArdle in the Long Jump (4.81) and Driskel in the High Jump (1.45).

Ana Crangle posted Cleveland State's best finish on the track Friday, placing second in the 3000 Steeple Chase with a time of 11:23.56.

Madelynn Madison also notched a top-10 finish on Friday, placing 10th in the 1500 Meter Run with a time of 4:49.45 which ranks second all-time at Cleveland State.

The Vikings will close out action at the Emory Spring Break Classic tomorrow, with events beginning at 10:00 a.m.
