YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Cleveland State track & field team opened the 2024 Horizon League Indoor Championships Saturday, with Grace Frye placing fourth in the Weight Throw and the Distance Medley Relay team finishing eighth.

"We had a great day today, and I'm really proud of how we competed as a team," head coach Jason Hudson said. "We did not let the stage of the conference championship get into our head, and I'm excited about the day we have tomorrow with scoring opportunities. Grace had a great showing in the Weight Throw today, while our Distance Medley Relay team had a great race."

Frye notched a mark of 16.77 to finish fourth overall in the Weight Throw, breaking her own school record.

The Distance Medley Relay team of Natalie Keller, Leah Hoover, Ana Crangle, and Madelynn Madison posted a school-record time of 12:23.37, earning a podium finish in the event.

The Vikings also competed in the finals of the 5000 Meter Run and Long Jump, with Sage Colòn (19th-19:04.49) and Ariana Coats (20th-19:08.20) representing Cleveland State in the 5000 and Jillian McArdle (20th-4.78) representing the Vikings in the Long Jump.

In addition, Cleveland State was also represented in the prelims of the 60, 200, 400, and 800.

The Vikings will be back in action tomorrow with day two of the #HLTF Indoor Championships.
