CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State cross country team returned to action at the Falcon Invitational Friday, with multiple Vikings setting personal-best times on the 6K course.
"We had a great team effort today, we had multiple PR's and we executed our race plan," head coach Jason Hudson said. "This was our fastest average time for a 6K race in three years, as we attacked as a pack and were once again led by a trio of freshmen. This was a great tune-up for the Horizon League Championships in a couple weeks."
The Vikings were paced by the freshmen trio of Mia Beemsterboer (23:40), Natalie Keller (23:42) and Brooke Bechtel (23:42), with Keller and Bechtel both bettering their 6K times from earlier this season.
Ana Crangle (23:53) and Madelynn Madison (23:55) were the next Vikings to cross the finish line - both with personal-best times - while Sage Colòn (24:01) also bettered her 6K time from last month.
Next to cross the finish line for the Vikings was Ariana Coats (24:04), while Kiannah Sarver (24:34) and Sophia Pomnean (24:48) were close behind.
Savannah Shaver (26:06), Madeline Crissman (26:20) and Melanie Ortiz (29:26) also competed for Cleveland State.
In addition, Coats, Pomnean and Shaver also tallied personal-best 6K times.
The Vikings will now take a week off from competition, returning to action at the 2023 Horizon League Championships on Saturday, October 28.
