Cleveland State Cross Country Has Strong Showing At Notre Dame Invite

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Cleveland State cross country team returned to the course Friday, participating in the Notre Dame Invite.

"Today we found out what we were made of as a team, we had some folks who were off and others stepped up for the team," head coach Jason Hudson said. "Natalie ran a great race today to lead the team, as she had a plan and went out and executed very well. Madelynn ran the race of her collegiate career, and all of her training really showed in the meet today. I'm excited to see how the rest of the season progresses!"

For the third time this season the Vikings were paced by a freshman, as Natalie Keller led the way for Cleveland State with a 5K time of 19:17.

Finishing behind Keller was Madelynn Madison, who posted a personal-best 5K time of 19:38, while Ariana Coats finished in a time of 19:46 to also notch a personal-best time.

Brooke Bechtel was the next Viking to finish (19:54), while Ana Crangle finished in a personal-best time of 19:58.

Also representing Cleveland State in the Gold Division 5K race were Sage Colòn (20:03), Kiannah Sarver (20:21), Mia Beemsterboer (20:34), and Sophia Pomnean (21:22).

The Vikings also had two competitors in the open race on Friday, as Madeline Crissman posted a 5K time of 22:05 and Savannah Shaver finished in 22:22.
