CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State cross country team will return to action this weekend, participating in the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invite on Friday, September 29. The women's 5K Open Race is slated to begin at 12:00 p.m., while the women's 5K Gold Division race is set for 12:45 p.m.
Friday's race will mark the third of six events for the Vikings this season, and the first 5K of the year.
Cleveland State will be one of 18 teams represented in the Gold Division 5K, including Horizon League opponents Green Bay, Youngstown State and IUPUI.
Through the first two races of the 2023 season the Vikings have been paced by freshman Mia Beemsterboer, who won the Wooster Invite in her collegiate debut and placed ninth among Division I runners at the All-Ohio Championships last time out.
In addition to Beemsterboer, classmates Natalie Keller and Brooke Bechtel have also been two of Cleveland State's top finishers so far this season, as the freshman class has been strong for the Vikings in 2023.
